His journey through the trials and errors of independent teaching has enriched his understanding of diverse student needs, emphasizing a natural, injury-preventive approach, informed by his experience with the Alexander method.
While classically trained, Amery's strength lies in his ability to tailor lessons to individual interests and styles. He co-developed the Play-by-Ear pop piano syllabus in 2010, prioritizing intuitive learning and aural skills.

Has performed and arranged music globally, including in Manila, Jakarta, Sydney, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, and in the USA.
2nd and 3rd place in the 1999 Singapore National Piano and International/Kawai Piano Competitions, respectively.
Accompanied various international ballet companies in rehearsals and has appeared in concerts for various embassies around the world.
Developed a focus on contemporary improvisatory styles and repertoire, focusing on mainstream English and Mandarin top 40s hits, Jazz and Latin American styles such as the Argentinean Tango, Samba, Salsa, etc.
Specialist in coaching bands, where Amery gets individual students to play together as an ensemble.
