Rory
My name is Rory. I’m a 24 year old British-born Singaporean and have been here for about 15 years.
My musical background actually started with playing Tuba in my school's brass band! This wasn’t scratching the musical itch that I still had in the back of my head, so that's when I took up the drums at the age of 13. I took a few lessons at a local music academy, but I wasn’t gelling with the teacher I had.
That's when I decided to learn drums myself. Twelve years down the line, and here I am. I’ve played tens of gigs with roughly 10 local music groups and have been teaching drums for roughly 8 years. In this time, I have travelled to over 10 countries to perform and have taught over 35 students from ages 4 to 40+!
My favourite part of teaching is seeing that same fire behind my students' eyes that I have while playing. It is an honour to see young, new, and even established musicians learn and develop their skills. As a (mostly) self-taught drummer, I am always looking at new and unique teaching methods to suit the needs of each one of my students. My goal with each student is not a distinction for grade 8, or for them to perform in front of thousands, but to find their own passion and love for music.
